Yorkshire Terrier the Most popular dog breed in the U.S.

According to the American Kennel Club, this small dog breed occupies the 6th position in the most popular dogs in the world list. The Yorkshire Terrier, commonly known as the Yorkie, is a spunky little dog with a personality that far outweighs its small stature.

The Yorkshire Terrier has been in the Top 10 most popular dog breeds since at least 2013.

The Yorkshire Terrier is also is very energetic, brave (due to its ancestry which called for courage), loyal and his behavior can be quite clever. Therefore, when one is looking for a loving, happy friend, this is the breed!

Known to be very affectionate with its human family members, they love to give and receive attention. This loyalty also shows when strangers come around, as they will want to protect their family and can be a great watch dog inside of a little body. Yorkies have great confidence, they are excellent travel companions and can be therapy dogs for people with anxiety and for timid travelers. Dog owners with allergies tend to do very well with having Yorkies as pets

This protection instinct can become a behavioral issue if the dog is not shown very clearly whom is the master and whom is the canine family member.

The long steel-blue and tan coat may be the Yorkie’s crowning glory, but it’s his personality that truly endears him to his family. Oblivious to his small size (weighing in at no more than seven pounds), the Yorkshire Terrier is a big dog in a small body, always on the lookout for adventure and maybe even a bit of trouble.

Easy to housebreak if proper training procedures are followed, great with children if youngsters are shown how to properly play with this very tiny dog and filled with personality, the Yorkshire Terrier has found its way into millions of homes.

There’s no other breed that can pull off a smoking style like a Yorkshire terrier! Dress them up or down, and accessorize them in everything from dog hoodies to crystal-encrusted collars. Your Yorkie deserves to be glamorous.
