Animal costumes – or pet costumes – are getting more and more popular with dogs and cats, but did you know that it has been going on since the 1950s? The first pet costume was worn by Grumpy, a mop-like dog owned by Mrs Wally Byfield in 1953. This started the trend of dressing up pets for celebratory events such as Halloween celebrations.
